Respite Care
Respite care from Butters Home Health Care is designed to help families and caregivers by providing a temporary relief from caring for loved ones. Families and caregivers often face serious stress problems as a result of balancing the needs of the person they are caring for with the needs of caring for themselves or their other family members.
- Care is provided at home. Most importantly for the client, their surroundings and routines do not need to change, while providing the family members a break.
- Respite care can range from a few hours to overnight to extended care.
- Can be utilized on a regular schedule or for a special occasion.
- Our caregivers help with as much or as little assistance is needed.
- Allows family’s time to tend to the needs of themselves and the other special people in their life.

COVID-19 Operational Guidelines
- Butters Home Health Care does not accept any clients who are COVID positive. This is to protect our caregivers and the clients they may interact with.
- All Caregivers are required to take the Coronavirus safety health course.
- Caregivers are required to wear masks while at the client's home. They are also advised to wear masks when in public places. Gloves are available if required.
- Caregivers are expected to use proper hygiene at all times.
- Caregivers are provided a digital thermometer so they can monitor their temperature while on/off shift. Clients’ temperature is monitored before and after each shift.
- Before logging in for their shift, the Caregiver is required to answer questions concerning their exposure to anyone with the virus. Questions about their health (symptoms) are also required to be answered prior to logging in for all shifts.
- Much care is made to eliminate the need for multi-client Caregivers. This drastically reduces the possibility of infection spread.
- Caregivers who exhibit any symptoms are encouraged to call in sick. They are advised to stay home until it has been determined they can return to work. Caregivers are still paid for their assigned shifts. This encourages voluntary reporting as the caregiver does not feel that reporting sick will result in the loss of income.
- If a caregiver needs to be off from work for a non-medical reason, we would normally provide coverage with another caregiver. However, in the COVID era, we give the client the option of having the backup caregiver, or not having coverage for that day. This reduces the number of caregivers the client is exposed to.
